Hello, I’m Deborah
I’m a full-time editor and authenticity reader who has worked on bestselling novels with Big Five and independent publishers. I love all kinds of books and welcome authors from different backgrounds and paths to publication. My specialty is editing stories that centre inclusivity and underrepresented voices, because I believe these books carry perspectives we don’t see often enough.
I’ve had the pleasure of working with many authors across the UK and US, so I’m well versed in editing in both British English and US English, and I enjoy guiding authors to shape their work in their preferred style. I pride myself on providing a thorough and attentive editing service that helps authors produce a polished, publish-ready manuscript.

My Approach
I started my journey as an agented writer, signed to the Madeleine Milburn Literary Agency, one of the UK’s top literary agencies. I left to follow my real passion for editing stories and working closely with authors. I know what it’s like to be on the other side, pouring your story onto the page and longing for it to reach readers. I also understand what it takes for a manuscript to stand out, and how much of a difference editing can make.
I enjoy guiding authors through the process because the journey is often painstaking, yet also joyous. I’m happy to be an accountability partner, someone who reminds you why you started when motivation dips. I adapt my approach in whatever way best supports you and helps make your writing journey as smooth and successful as possible.
